Home > Job > Research and Policy Manager – Relationships, Carers and Bereavement

For over 70 years Marie Curie has worked to deliver a better end of life experience for everyone. A key part of that mission means building our research evidence base and using this to campaign for the changes needed from national and local decision-makers in order to improve those experiences.

Our research and policy work is focused on addressing four key themes key to delivering the best possible end of life experience for all – physical and mental health and wellbeing; financial security; relationships, carers and bereavement; and inequality and inequity in end of life experience.

The relationships, carers and bereavement theme recognises that end of life experience can not be understood as something involving one individual, but is a social experience, involving a wide range of people around and beyond the dying person themselves. Meaningful relationships at the end of life are important both to the experience of the dying person, but also to their loved ones, for whom experiences at this time can have an exceptionally long-term impact.

This new role of Research and Policy Manager for Relationships, Carers and Bereavement is based in the Policy and Public Affairs England team, and will coordinate the development and delivery of a programme of research and policy work in England to ensure that everyone affected by death and dying – including the family, friends and carers of the dying person- are supported through and beyond the end of life.

We know that the UK has profound inequalities in end of life care. Challenging these are at the heart of our work, and to do that as effectively as we can, we need a diverse team. We are inclusive and welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, sexuality, race, class, religion, disability, nationality, or political affiliation.
